Ever since Jasmine was a little girl, she has loved animals and wanted to work with them.
While going to community college in the Bay Area, she got a job as a cashier at her local PetSmart. She quickly went from cashier to small animal care associate, then finally was offered to work in their grooming department. She was a bather for 3 months before she got the amazing opportunity to go to their grooming school. After completing their hands-on training in October 2007, she returned back to her original store where she groomed for a year before finding different employment.
Jasmine used her skills to groom and work her way up to become Salon Manager at her local Petco. While there, she learned different techniques, time management, and gained more confidence in her grooming abilities. She stayed there for 5 years before leaving to help her friend start his own private grooming salon.
Jasmine helped her friend start the business from the ground up. From grooming out of his garage to build clientele, to eventually opening up three store fronts in San Jose CA that quickly became very successful. She managed not one, but two of the locations for 5 years before moving up here to Shasta County.
With this relocation, Jasmine was able to finally achieve her dream of 10 years of opening her own salon! She strives to provide quality work and customer service to every client that walks through her door.
In her personal life, Jasmine owns quite the zoo with her husband, Don. They currently share their home with 9 dogs(Juno, Jude, Archer, Lana, Dozer, Reese, Lennox, Simone, & Riot); 3 cats(Iris, Storm, and Mordecai); 3 Leopard Geckos( Pancake, Ravioli, and Cornbread); 2 birds(a Cockatiel – Kirby, and a Rainbow Lorikeet – Jinx); 2 Northern Blue-Tongue Skinks(Stewie & Reptar); 2 Tarantulas(Charlotte and Ombre); two Llamas: Carl and a female named Larry; and a whole lot of snakes!
She is an IPG certified groomer and is also Advanced Pet First Aid/CPR certified.

Dacia has worked a handful of jobs before finding her passion of working with animals. She started her bathing career in September 2020 at another local grooming salon before joining our team here in November 2021. Her dream was to become a groomer which she achieved under the teachings of Jasmine. She started grooming full time July 2022!
She owns 2 dogs(Junior, & Simba); a Ball Python(Elaina); and a cat(Freya).
She is an IPG certified groomer and is also Advanced Pet First Aid/CPR certified.

Katie has always had a strong love for dogs and when the opportunity to work with them came up she was thrilled!
She has been within the dog grooming world since 2021. She spent the last 3 years in Idaho Falls, Idaho where she was a bather for 2 and a half years, starting her grooming career in January of 2024.
She has had experience with all sizes, nerves, and ages of dogs. Katie has found her heart in this career and loves every dog she gets the honor of making connections with! She joined the Modern Pup team May 2024.
She has 2 dogs (Missy & Grey) and a cat who firmly believes he is a dog (Tarzan).

Kristen has been grooming since 2015. She started off as a volunteer receptionist at a mom and pop shop, and eventually worked her way up to Groomer’s Assistant. Afterwards she was hired at PetSmart and sent to their training school.
She’s worked at a boutique/health & wellness grooming shop, a veterinary clinic, and as a mobile groomer. For a few years, she had her own small House Call business. She joined The Modern Pup team November of 2024.
She’s worked with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments; and especially love senior dogs

Mackenzie has always loved animals, especially dogs. When Mackenzie moved to the Redding area in 2019 she found herself choosing between jobs, either a half hour commute to work as a bather, or to work at her local store. She decided that it was worth the drive to be able to work with dogs and that’s where she started off.
She worked hard as a bather for 9 months until she got offered a chance to start groom training at the shop she was working at. After she picked up the scissors she knew she had found her passion and she was on her way.
After 2 years at the shop she was working at, she had decided to find a change and came to The Modern Pup. Mackenzie has been a part of the team since November of 2021, but unfortunately had to stop grooming due to a diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel. She’s now the salon’s receptionist.
Mackenzie loves to play with her dog Charlie and enjoys taking him to see new places, the woods and beaches are Charlie’s favorite places and Mackenzie’s just along for the fun.
She is Advanced First Pet Aid/CPR certified.

Joel started his bathing career here at The Modern Pup May of 2023 after a recommendation from his mom – our assistant manager/groomer Dacia.
He worked his way up to lead bather April 2024 and will soon be starting his grooming career in the near future.
He owns a Siamese cat named Shrimp.

Ayesha joined The Modern Pup team May of 2023.
She’s working part time while going to school to be a medical assistant.
She and her family own a few dogs(Lux, Maple, Mia, Sage, Maverick, and Goose); as well as a few goats, a horse, and a mini pig.

Stevie has dipped her toes in different job opportunities including grooming with her mom.
She decided to come back to the grooming world and has been a part of The Modern Pup team since March of 2024.
She owns a German Shepherd named Boy.

Deserri worked a handful of jobs before joining The Modern Pup team April of 2024 after the recommendation of our bather Stevie.
She owns two dogs(Moxie-German Shepherd/Wolf and Maximus – German Shepherd mix).

Seth worked with his grandfather on odd jobs before joining The Modern Pup July of 2021 as his first full time job. A year later he was trained and certified as a groomer, but decided to be a bather instead.
His family owes a few dogs including his dog Charlie, as well as a few Bearded Dragons.
He is Advanced Pet First Aid/CPR certified.
